Calvin Klein Release USB Sunglasses

We’ve all seen the huge range of products that have been made into USB devices. Whether it’s a real twig that can store 2GB of data, or maybe a broken piece of wire that deter thieves. There are thousands of strange USB sticks out there, and there is now a new addition to the list.

This latest addition to the wacky USB stick list is a pair of sunglasses, Calvin Klein sunglasses to be correct. You might be scratching your head wondering how they managed to squeeze a USB memory stick into a pair of designer glasses. Well, it’s a pretty cool way they have done it, although it doesn’t make a huge amount of sense, it’s still cool. They have added the USB stick into the end of the right arm. All you need to do is pull off the arm, plug it into your PC, Mac, Laptop or Netbook and then you are able to store a massive 4GB of memory onto the glasses.

Athough it seems strange to add a USB into something like sunglasses, but it does give them a unique selling point over a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses. Although, when you think about the uses, if you are on a beach and require some extra storage space for your netbook, all you have to do is dismantle your glasses and you can store all you want.

Of course the biggest and most obvious downside to these glasses is that once you start using the USB storage, you can’t wear them at the same time, unless you are able to use the one arm and balance them on your head. Also, I imagine that the connection to hold the arm together is strong otherwise as you remove the glasses, the arm could fall apart. Also, I’m not sure if the USB is waterproof because if you’re using them on the beach, you don’t want to loose all your data if you get splashed, you certainly wouldn’t have that problem with Police sunglasses.

I guess they have their advantages and disadvanatges, and if you really can’t be bothered to carry around a tiny memory stick, then this is perfect for you. However, they come at a high price. $199 is how much they are retailing for, I imagine you are paying for the glasses and not the 4GB of storage which would normally cost you about $20.
